Plant It and They Will Come

We successfully finished planting everything for our butterfly garden this morning. Each camper had their turn to make sure that the soil was nice and moist.
One of our campers spotted a butterfly while we were out near the garden. He got so excited! "It worked! It worked!" he said.







After our hard work in the grueling sun, we cooled down on the front porch with some ice cream sandwiches and spent the majority of the remainder of our camp day inside, where it was not 100 degrees! We sang, danced, made flowers, played games and more.

CAMP!

What a wonderful day at camp! We stayed indoors for the majority of the day since it nearly reached 100 degrees and there is no rain in sight!
With the help of Will's awesome grandmother, we did get a start to our wonderful butterfly garden. Many volunteers were involved in getting our gardening program off of the ground.
Pinelake Madison/Ridgeland- Donated materials & Labor for our 2 raised wheelchair-accessible garden beds
Delta Construction- donated our dirt to fill the beds
Bob & Mike- filled the beds with the dirt
Callaways Yard & Garden and Green Oak- donated a wide variety of plants to establish our butterfly garden
Tomorrow the kids will help us put the finishing touches with the plants and each day the campers will help us keep the garden watered with their very own watering pails.

Miss Mississippi Teen

We had a great time last Friday night in Vicksburg at the Miss Mississippi Teen Pageant. All together, we had a group of about 28 folks. We went to cheer on Kelsey Carroll, who is 2009 West Central Mississippi's Outstanding Teen. Kelsey is a great gal and she and her mom treated us like royalty! We ate at Pizza Hut beforehand and then settled in at the auditorium for a fun-filled night with great entertainment.

Under The Sea

We had another fantastic fishy day at Hope Hollow. We painted and designed sea murals, danced with Miss Rachel, sang with Miss Mary Helen and Miss Abby and did so much more! Fun was had by all! Tomorrowm is water day! Yippee!!

2nd Week of Camp

We are off to great start of our 2nd week of camp at Hope Hollow. This week we are learning more about the sea and all of it's amazing creatures.
