We had a busy day at Hope Hollow Harvest today!

With the wonderful help from some local high school students, our garden beds have been prepared for our fall planting.

So, it was time for us to get busy with our planting!

We planted some beautiful flowers.

Soon, these flowers will be available for purchase. :-)

We will also soon have cabbage, brussell sprouts, lettuce and a few types of herbs.

Then, it was time to celebrate a birthday!

Everyone did their part to make some yummy birthday cupcakes!

New Branch of Ministry

We are excited to announce a new branch of ministry at Hope Hollow!

Hope Hollow Harvest

HHH will be a part-time day program for individuals ages 18 & up.

We will launch Hope Hollow Harvest on September 12, 2011.

HHH will be held Monday-Thursday from 9:00am-1:00pm.

Participants may choose to attend Monday & Wednesday or Tuesday & Thursday, or they may attend all 4 days of each week.

We will follow the local school calendar and observe school holidays, including a summer break.

This will allow us to continue the summer programs that we currently offer at Hope Hollow.

HHH will provide its participants with a fun, Christian, loving environment in which they can continue to learn and have a great time with their peers.

Some of the activities that participants will be involved in:

*Gardening*

*Exercise*

*Various Forms of Art*

*Social interaction with peers*

*Involvement in community projects*

A great group of 11th grade guys came out to Hope Hollow for a mission project as part of their Disciple Now weekend.

They all gave 100% and then some!

What a great group of hard-working guys!

They split into 2 groups.

One group deep-cleaned our main cabin.

The other group headed to the back of our property for some outdoor clean-up work.

A Barn Raising

Thanks to a generous donor, we have been able to begin the progress of building our barn at Hope Hollow.

Posts are set and rafters are being constructed as we speak.

The Barn Red roof will soon be making an appearance on our wonderful new structure.

We, at Hope Hollow, love seeing progress on our property.
And I just know our horses will appreciate this wonderful barn, especially in our cold, windy months of winter that will be right around the corner.

This past Saturday, Hope Hollow Ladies Auxiliary hosted its 2nd annual Applebee's Pancake Breakfast.
It was a smashing success once again!

There were over 300 in attendance and we rarely had a table open for the 2 hours of the fundraiser breakfast.
The kitchen crew worked especially hard!

We even had a couple of wonderful men lend their helping hands.

Each and every volunteer had a shining smile on their face! That was a true testament to their love and dedication for Hope Hollow and its campers.

Every person who came in to enjoy their wonderful pancakes and sausage, left with a full tummy and a smile on their face!

Hope Hollow has such wonderful supporters!

Each table was full all morning.

Many friends came out to support Hope Hollow.

Several campers and their families cane out to enjoy breakfast with us.

Family and friends always stand by Hope Hollow with their support.

Many of us had the opportunity to catch up with friends we had not seen in a long time.

We are so excited that we have begun our first HIGH HOPES Therapeutic Horseback Riding Program at Hope Hollow!

The participants are learning the parts of the horse, grooming techniques, and riding skills while working on balance, targeting muscles, improving social skills & much more.

if you are interested in your child participating in this program, please contact Rebecca at 601-506-6293. We have a waiting list for the next 6-week session. We meet once a week for 6 weeks and the cost is $180 per 6-week session.

As this is a new program, there are certain extra costs involved to best serve our participants. We welcome any donations and you can specify your donations to be specifically applied toward our riding program. As always, all donations are tax-deductible.

I am so excited about this upcoming event at Hope Hollow!
All of the doors at Hope Hollow have been sponsored by a business or organization and each door has been painted by extremely talented artists. There is an eclectic group of artists that will be represented; such as, abstract, folk art, children's art, watercolor, etc.
Hope Hollow is hosting a gala, OPENING THE DOORS OF HOPE GALA, to unveil these wonderful doors to the public. Many restaurants and caterers have donated a variety of delicious dishes for the evening. We will also have an incredicble silent auction featuring such items as: lap top computer, Viking toaster, jewelry, landscaper consultation, and much more.

The best part of this fundraiser is what it will mean to the campers of Hope Hollow. The monies raised from the Doors of Hope will be used to install a wheelchair lift to access the 2nd floor, transform the 2nd floor into a sensory gym and music room, & create an outdoor sensory yard. The benefits of the Doors of Hope will last for many, many years.

We had a great day at Hope Hollow. Today was the 1st day of Winter and as usual, our Mississippi weather suprised us with a beautiful warm day with the high in the 60s.
We enjoyed spending time outdoors today. Some chose run and roam around with freedom. Others tried out our new archery range. While others enjoyed our tire swing. One thing is for sure, fun was had by all.

We have dreamed of having a lift at Hope Hollow since we first purchased the property 1.5 years ago. And thank to the awesome City of Ridgeland Chamber of Commerce and the wonderful Linda Bynum that dream is becoming a reality. The Chamber had 2 wonderful bake sales that raised money for the purchase of a wheelchair lift for Hope Hollow.
You see, our main cabin has a 2nd story which is an incredible open space where we are planning to have a sensory gym and music room. Problem is, the 2nd story was not accessible to ALL of our campers; therefore, we rarely used it.
But now, with full access fro EVERYBODY we are dreaming BIG!

Some employees from Kohls came out to Hope Hollow this week to volunteer. They sanded all of the interior doors and began priming the doors. This is in preparation of our fundraiser, Doors of Hope.
We are so excited about this project! Businesses & organizations will sponsor a door and an artist will paint both sides of the door. We will have a gala unveiling, Doors of Hope, in February. All money raised will go toward eqipping our 2nd story as a sensory gym and also incorporate some outdoor sensory items.

Hope Hollow's Ladies Auxiliary's Pancake Breakfast was a huge success!! Over $2000 was raised, which will all go toward camper scholarships and supplies for upcoming events at Hope Hollow!
Thank you to each one of you who volunteered and worked so hard to help make the event so meaningful to everyone involved! And a huge thank you to everyone who came out and ate pancakes! Applebees said that was the most successful Pancake Breakfast that they had ever seen! We should not be surprised. We serve a Mighty God and He continues to bless Hope Hollow and our efforts as a minstry to the wonderful individuals that we serve!

Golf Classic

Thursday was the last day of summer camp for 2009. It was also the day of our Hope Hollow Golf Classic. So, we loaded up our campers and the wonderful volunteers from Meadow Grove Baptist Church and headed over to Deerfield to eat lunch with the golfers and cheer them on as they drove off in their golf carts.
The golfers had a great time despite having their game cut a little short due to some rain. Everyone played atleast 11 holes and fun was had by all.
Praise the Lord for another successful summer at Hope Hollow and a marvelous golf tournamnet fundraiser!!!

We had a fun day indoors due to the massive amounts of rain today. We rocked with Evan and his electric guitar, bounced balloons at music, made binoculars, played lots of air hockey & so much more!
Tomorrow will be the last day of summer camp! I cannot believe how quickly this summer has flown by. We have had so many awesome campers this year and the most incredible, caring volunteers! I am excited as we look to the future of Hope Hollow and all of the potential opportunities. Praise the Lord!!!

GOLF TOURNAMENT

It's that time of year! Our Hope Hollow Golf Classic will be next Thursday, July 30th at Deerfield Country Club. Lunch will be served at 11:30 am and tee off will be at 1:00 pm. Several teams are still needed. Price is $125/individual player or $400/4-man team. We are also looking for hole sponsors for only $100. This is a great way to participate even if you don't play in the tournament. Please give me a call if you have any questions or if you are interested in playing or sponsoring. We appreciate each and every one of you, as this is our largest fundraiser of the year. And, as you know, Hope Hollow is a 501(c)3, non-profit organization which is completely funded by personal donations.

Camp- Week 4

We are having another great week of camp! This week we are talking about faithful men in the Bible.
The campers were able to enjoy some rain on Monday....we almost forgot what rain looked like, so it was nice to have a bit of a reminder!
Today, we were able to play outside and burn some energy. We played football,soccer, rock dumping, and many other imaginative games.
We have a great group of campers as well as some new volunteers at Hope Hollow this week. We love new faces along with our faithful friends!

Plant It and They Will Come

We successfully finished planting everything for our butterfly garden this morning. Each camper had their turn to make sure that the soil was nice and moist.
One of our campers spotted a butterfly while we were out near the garden. He got so excited! "It worked! It worked!" he said.

After our hard work in the grueling sun, we cooled down on the front porch with some ice cream sandwiches and spent the majority of the remainder of our camp day inside, where it was not 100 degrees! We sang, danced, made flowers, played games and more.

What a wonderful day at camp! We stayed indoors for the majority of the day since it nearly reached 100 degrees and there is no rain in sight!
With the help of Will's awesome grandmother, we did get a start to our wonderful butterfly garden. Many volunteers were involved in getting our gardening program off of the ground.
Pinelake Madison/Ridgeland- Donated materials & Labor for our 2 raised wheelchair-accessible garden beds
Delta Construction- donated our dirt to fill the beds
Bob & Mike- filled the beds with the dirt
Callaways Yard & Garden and Green Oak- donated a wide variety of plants to establish our butterfly garden
Tomorrow the kids will help us put the finishing touches with the plants and each day the campers will help us keep the garden watered with their very own watering pails.

Miss Mississippi Teen

We had a great time last Friday night in Vicksburg at the Miss Mississippi Teen Pageant. All together, we had a group of about 28 folks. We went to cheer on Kelsey Carroll, who is 2009 West Central Mississippi's Outstanding Teen. Kelsey is a great gal and she and her mom treated us like royalty! We ate at Pizza Hut beforehand and then settled in at the auditorium for a fun-filled night with great entertainment.

We had another fantastic fishy day at Hope Hollow. We painted and designed sea murals, danced with Miss Rachel, sang with Miss Mary Helen and Miss Abby and did so much more! Fun was had by all! Tomorrowm is water day! Yippee!!

We are off to great start of our 2nd week of camp at Hope Hollow. This week we are learning more about the sea and all of it's amazing creatures.

We had a blast with Kelsey Carroll, 2009 West Central Mississippi's Outstanding Teen, this past Friday evening!
We made crowns and had a great time hanging out with Kelsey and listening to her sing.
We have a large group headed to Vicksburg this Friday to cheer Kelsey on as she participates in the Miss Mississippi Teen Pageant.

We had a great day today at Hope Hollow! Wonderful campers....Wonderful volunteers!
We made fun butterflies and also decorated our own planters, then filled each planter with soil and seeeds. Of course, we enjoyed the great outdoors and even had music/movement on the front porch.

You did a wonderful job at Hope Hollow today! It was evident through your dedication and extreme organization along with persistence, that God had His hand all over your volunteer efforts at Hope Hollow today. I am still amazed at everything that was accomplished today!
Our campers will be safer on our front porch with our new security gate. We will all be seeing better when inside our cabin, thanks to all of the electrical work indoors. Our campers now have a safer entry way to enter the cabin from the front porch. Our awesome sign is now secure and does not pose the risk of falling. and my favorite...two wheelchair-accessible, raised garden beds. I cannot wait for our campers to enjoy getting a little dirty and learning about how God created seeds and allow the kids the opportunity to witness the miracle of growth and be a part in the process.
